Cabbage Soup Detox Diet Recipes

1 head of green cabbage, shredded
2 cans of diced tomatoes
2 green peppers, chopped
3 carrots, sliced
1 bunch of celery, chopped
2 onions, diced
2 cups broth (vegetable, chicken or beef)
2 cups vegetable juice
Your choice of seasonings
1. Spray a large pot with cooking spray and sauté the onions until soft.
2. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil and then simmer until all the vegetables are crisp tender.
3. Enjoy daily for one week.
The cabbage soup is pretty bland so over the years many variations to the basic recipe started circulating. Some recipes include adding red cabbage, green beans or mushrooms to the soup. For more flavor some people like to add lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. A variety of herbs and spices can be used, such as salt, pepper, thyme, basil, or rosemary. Or, to simplify it even further, you can just use regular onion soup mix or bullion cubes. The key is to add no fat or calories when seasoning the soup.
